Location: Clairemont in San Diego, CA
This high profile and complex project was part of the City of San Diego’s Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The Design Build 554/555 was built in a densely-traveled area of Clairemont Drive and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
The projects statistics were impressive: 8 miles of 8, 12 and 16 inch pipeline in a 11 month time frame. The new pipe replaced 60-year old cast iron water lines.
The 554/555 Design Build project was designed by one of San Diego’s premier engineering firms RBF Consulting. The project required hundreds of modifications due to the unknown subsurface variables encountered. RBF provide their expertise in modifying the design to accomodate the condition encountered.
The project received honors from the APWA (American Public Works Association) 2010 Honor Award and ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) 2010 Water, Wastewater and Reuse Award of Merit Project.
